The word  KOSHARI  is of French origin and comes from the French word  "RIZ CACHER" , which means hidden rice. At the time of French campaign in Egypt, they tried the local food that consists of rice, lentils and onions. Then, called it by the name of  "RIZ CACHER"  which altered over time and got called  "koshari" .
IBN BATTUTA  mentioned Koshari for the first time in his description about travelling to different regions of the world and added that it was his daily breakfast.
